# Export Control and Sanctions Policy

Lium strictly prohibits access to its compute from US embargoed countries and by sanctioned parties, and runs thorough checks to ensure that Lium compute is never accessible to anyone in a restricted area. The prohibition covers every Lium service — the [lium.io](https://lium.io) platform, the API, the CLI, the SDK, and any GPU node connected to Subnet 51.

Lium GPU compute, and any hardware or technical data supplied to Lium, must never be provided, exported, or re-exported to a restricted destination or a restricted party. Accounts that violate this policy are terminated.

## Who May Not Use Lium

You may not create an account, rent compute, connect a node, or otherwise access Lium if you are:

- Located in, ordinarily resident in, or a national of a country or region subject to a comprehensive US embargo — currently Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and the Crimea, Donetsk (DNR) and Luhansk (LNR) regions of Ukraine, along with any other region that becomes comprehensively embargoed.
- Named on a US, UK, or EU restricted party list — including the Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons (SDN) List, the Denied Persons List, the Entity List, and Military End User lists.
- An entity owned, directly or indirectly, individually or in aggregate, 50 percent or more by one or more parties named on those lists.

Accessing Lium on behalf of any such person or entity, or reselling, sublicensing, or otherwise passing Lium compute through to them, is equally prohibited.

## Hardware and Technical Data

GPUs and other hardware acquired for the Lium network are deployed in data centers outside restricted destinations and stay there. We do not sell, ship, or otherwise transfer that hardware, or technical data received with it, to a restricted destination or a restricted party.

## How We Enforce It

- **Contractual ban.** This policy governs every Lium account. Access from a restricted destination is a material breach and ends the right to use Lium immediately.
- **Card payment screening.** Card payments are processed by Stripe, which is bound by US sanctions rules and refuses service to embargoed jurisdictions.
- **Access review.** We record the network origin of every account registration, and we review accounts that show signs of access from a restricted destination.
- **Node geography.** Node locations are resolved from the network address a node connects from and published in the marketplace. Where we find a node in a restricted destination, we remove it from the network.

## Consequences of a Violation

Where we find a violation, we terminate running pods and close the account.
